Keeping up on your local market
Whether you’re a future seller or buyer, it’s great to keep tabs on the local housing market, and we often provide regional updates here. What about more local information? The popular real estate apps will let you create a search for your city or zip code and get email updates for new listings, but they don’t necessarily provide summary statistics, like recent average price trends or how active the market is.
Note: this article was featured in our October 2025 email newsletter.
Here are some great sources we have enjoyed using.
Keller Williams Neighborhood Updates
We can set this up for you, and you’ll get bi-weekly or monthly updates, including market statistics and recent listings, price changes, and a link to all listings in the area. You can get a report for a city, county, zip code, or even zoom right in on a neighborhood like the sample here. It’s a super-easy format to use. Just email me (Steve), and I’ll set it up with a few quick questions about the neighborhood and your choice of frequency.

Altos Zip Code Reports
This one is intended for real estate professionals, but they’ll give you a weekly report on one zip code for free. It’s really informative, with graphs that show price and inventory trends, along with their own “market action index” that tracks whether the market is swinging toward sellers or buyers over time. Sign up at www.altos.re, choose “Try for free” option, punch in your zip code and email, tell them you’re “other” when they ask what kind of user you are, and you’ll get weekly reports like this one.

We could go on with more sources, but how about just a few links to useful websites where you can subscribe to weekly emails with updates you might enjoy (also, email me back if you do want me to go on with more sources!):
- Appraiser Ryan Lundquist’s blog on the Sacramento regional market: https://sacramentoappraisalblog.com. He also posts regularly on Instagram and Facebook with stats.
- ResiClub – a national perspective with plenty of comparisons of local markets. Paid upgrades available, the free service is quite informative: https://www.resiclubanalytics.com
California is the most fun state!
OK, tell your relatives and friends who moved to Texas, Tennessee, Idaho, or some other boring place… Come back! 🙂
Wallethub recently rated the states for fun and California came out on top! But we knew that, right? Tap the link to see the report.
(And I’m just kidding, Texas, Tennessee, and Idaho!)

That’s it for now. Let us know if we can help you with any real estate needs or questions (including gardening ideas, contractor references, or anything home related).
